UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – While Friday’s scheduled boys basketball game between Bronson and Union City was postponed because of the weather until February 2, six new members of the Union City High School Athletic Hall of Fame were formally inducted during a ceremony at McNett Fieldhouse.
This year’s inductees included Jerry Prough, who is being inducted as an honorary member. He worked with the BUCS program and the Athletic Boosters. Prough was credited with being instrumental in bringing fast pitch softball to the school.
The other 2026 inductees were:
Jacee (Watson) Beck, who graduated from UCHS in 2007 and participated in basketball and volleyball.
Dan Skirka, who graduated from UCHS in 2003 and participated in basketball and baseball.
Former Union City Schools Superintendent Chris Katz, who participated in football, basketball and track before graduating from Union City High School in 1980. After high school, Katz was a coach and always involved in athletics throughout his 40-year career with Union City Schools.
Doug Miller, who participated in four sports before graduating in 1967. He took part in football, basketball, baseball and track in high school.
Ron Clutter, who graduated from UCHS in 1958 and took part in football and baseball.
The new members were chosen by the Hall of Fame Committee.
