COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Residents of Branch County and southwest Michigan are bracing for another week of brutal winter weather as the ongoing cold snap shows no signs of relenting. with additional snowfall expected and temperatures hovering in the low teens with wind chills plunging well below zero, exacerbating the frigid conditions that have persisted since mid-January.
While the arctic air mass continues to dominate through the end of January, a subtle shift may bring minor relief by early February. Highs are forecasted to climb gradually from single digits later this week to the low 20s by February 1, though lows will still dip near zero at times.
A more significant warmup above freezing isn’t anticipated until at least mid-February, according to long-range outlooks, prolonging the need for heavy winter gear and heightened energy use for heating across Branch County and surrounding areas in southwest Michigan.
