QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Orioles boys basketball team won their fourth straight game on Friday night as they defeated the Maple Valley Lions 78-61 in a Big 8 Conference game inside of the Coolest Gym in Michigan.
The Orioles played four games since last Friday and won them all.
The two teams played a nip-and-tuck first half which ended in a 41-41 tie. The first 16 minutes featured nine lead changes.
Maple Valley scored the first two baskets of the second half to take a 45-41 lead. But the Orioles caught fire and scored 13 straight points to grab a 54-45 lead.
The Orioles outscored the Lions 18-8 in the decisive third quarter which put them ahead 59-49. The Lions could get any closer than nine points in the final period as the Orioles improved to 4-5 in the Big 8 and 9-7 overall.
Maple Valley dropped to 5-11 overall and 2-8 in the conference.
Ten Orioles got into the scorebook on Friday night including four players who finished in double figures. Quincy was led by Braylon Estlow with 17 points. His output included four buckets from distance.
Alex Dunn added 16 points. Bryson Estlow was also deadly from beyond the arc as he nailed three triples in scoring 15 points while J.J. Wright had 11 points.
Kelvin Nevins-Davis had a double-double for the Lions as he scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Teegan McDonald added 16 points while Dylan Steele had 14 points.
Maple Valley won the JV game 40-34.
