COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council decided Monday night not to submit an application to take part in the Rx Kids program which is being made available to communities throughout the State of Michigan.
The application deadline is this Saturday and applicants have to demonstrate community need, outline match funding and commit to leading local outreach, engagement and celebration.
Coldwater City Attorney Amanda O’Boyle has been backing the program which she said is cash direct, and benefits pregnant mothers.
There is a three year commitment for any community in Michigan that wants to take part.
But Council members Jeff Budd and Chad Johnson were hesitant about the city taking part.
Council member Emily Rissman motioned for the city to join the program but there was silence when Mayor Tom Kramer asked for a second, thus her motion died.
The program has gotten the backing of such local organizations as the Branch County Community Foundation, the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency and the Branch County Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence.

We need more information on this. It looks like we missed an oportunity.
