Cuban president urges US dialogue without conditions of political change – NBC interview

April 9 (Reuters) – Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel told ​NBC News that ‌the country has asked U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration ‌to ​engage ⁠in dialogue without ⁠demanding changes from Cuba’s political system or imposing ​other conditions, the network said ⁠on ⁠Thursday.

In the interview ​with NBC News’ ​Kristen Welker, he also ‌said that his leadership is tied to ⁠a mandate from the Cuban people.

“The concept ⁠of ‌revolutionaries giving ⁠up and stepping ​down, ‌it’s not ​part of ⁠our vocabulary either,” he said.
