QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Oriole baseball team shut out Battle Creek Central 13-0 in 5 innings in the first game of a scheduled doubleheader Monday. The second game was called in the bottom of the first due to lightning.
Winning pitcher Joe Gray allowed 2 hits, walked one, and struck out 9 in four innings, while Seth VanStelle gave up a walk and struck out 2 in the fifth. Quincy put up 13 runs despite only getting five hits; they were able to score via passed balls, fielding errors, a steal of home, and two balks by Bearcat pitchers. Bryson Estlow was 2-for-2 with a single and a double, while Adam Dunn doubled. Dunn, Estlow, and JJ Wright each had an RBI.
The Orioles improved to 3-1-1 and are scheduled to host Stockbridge on Tuesday.
