BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinal track teams swept to victory in an Interstate 8 dual meet at Pennfield Tuesday, with the boys winning 99-37 and the girls prevailing 96-31.
The Cardinal boys won 13 of the 17 events. Evan Lewis was a double winner in the 100m and 200m, while Jackson Reilly took first in the shot put and discus. Other winners include Trevor Mitchell in the 400m, Drew Vanderpuyl in the 800m, Lucas Newbetty in the 1600m, Travon Mitchell in the 110m hurdles, Bennett McDonald in the 300m hurdles, and Benjamin Travelbee in the pole vault. In addition, Coldwater three of the four relay races.
Not to be outdone, the Lady Cards won 12 of 16 events. Miyah Moore was a triple winer in the 100m, 200m, and 400m, while Marie Powers won the shot put and discus. Also winning for Coldwater: Gwen Eby in the 800m, Abigail Paul in the 1600m, Claire Paul in the 3200m, Morgan Baker in the high jump, and Samantha Bernard in the long jump. The Cardinal girls also won three of the four relay races.
Coldwater returns to action next Tuesday at Jackson Northwest.
