BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The City of Bronson is moving forward with a resolution to support two local businesses, Smitty’s Pizza and Shaunda’s Hair Chair , in their applications for the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) Match on Main grant program.
Following a public call for applicants that yielded three submissions, a selection committee utilized the MEDC’s scoring criteria to identify these two finalists. If approved, the city will apply for up to $25,000 per business to fund critical improvements, including new kitchen equipment for Smitty’s Pizza and the activation of underutilized space and inventory for Shaunda’s Hair Chair.
Bronson City Manager Brandon Mersman says the Match on Main program is designed to foster local economic development by providing reimbursement grants for small business enhancements.
This is not the city’s first time participating in the initiative; Bronson previously secured funding for Economy Garage, which used the grant to install a new lift and renovate its customer entry.
Official approval of the resolution is the final step required for the City of Bronson to submit these latest applications to the state for consideration.
