COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners brought forward a resolution during their work session on Thursday to join Cass and St. Joseph counties in applying for up to $400,000 in Michigan Strategic Fund CDBG Urgent Need financing to address disaster recovery following the March 6, tornado that affected all three counties.
The resolution is expected to be formally approved during the Commissioners meeting on Tuesday.
The money will support disaster case management services through a partnership with “After the Storm” in order to assist residents with housing stabilization and recovery planning. Cass County would serve as the lead applicant.
This collaborative effort addresses immediate threats to resident welfare, with the requested funding aimed at supporting ongoing recovery efforts across the three-county area.
The resolution formally authorizes Branch County’s participation in the joint application and designates Cass County as the fiduciary agent for the project.
