COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The 16th annual “Walk A Mile in Their Shoes” fundraiser, Organized by the Branch County Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence (BCCADSV) is set to take place in downtown Coldwater this Saturday.
The annual event event aims to raise critical funds for the Naomi Davis Shelterhouse and raise awareness for survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
Kim Hemker, executive director for the Branch County Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence says what began as a simple walk 16 years ago has transformed into a fun family event that begins with a pancake breakfast.
The morning’s main attraction begins at 10:15 a.m. on Monroe Street, where men from across the community are encouraged to lace up high heels for a round-the-block march.
Hemker emphasizes that participation is more vital than ever, as the coalition seeks to surpass last year’s $68,000 in donations to offset potential federal budget cuts that threaten local support services.
