COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Insight Hospital & Medical Center Coldwater is seeking compassionate community volunteers to join its No One Dies Alone (NODA) program, a national initiative founded in 2001 by nurse Sandra Clark.
The program is dedicated to ensuring that hospitalized patients nearing the end of life have a caring human presence when family or loved ones cannot be at their side.
The program provides trained volunteers who sit with dying patients, offering comfort through quiet companionship. Volunteers do not perform clinical tasks; their role is presence, dignity, and compassion.
Rick VanGessel, Chief Hospital Executive says “No one should have to face the end of life alone, our NODA volunteers provide a profound gift — the simple act of being there. Their presence brings peace and humanity to patients in their final hours.”
Volunteer Coordinator Lisa Counterman, says “This program reflects the heart of our mission, We are honored to invite community members to join us in offering comfort, connection, and dignity to those who need it most.”
Insight Hospital & Medical Center Coldwater welcomes individuals who are empathetic, grounded, and comfortable in quiet, reflective environments.
No medical background is required.
