BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – The Battle Creek Fire Department discovered one fatality while responding to a structure fire on Grenville Street at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Firefighters located the victim on the first floor of the two-story home after neighbors and an upstairs resident alerted them to a possible trapped victim.
While the fire was quickly extinguished and major damage confined to one area, the incident remains under investigation with assistance from the Battle Creek Police Department and LifeCare Ambulance.
The identity of the victim has not been released as the investigation in continueing
The City of Battle Creek expressed condolences to the victim’s family, and no further information is currently available.
