STURGIS, MI (WTVB) – A garage fire in Sturgis caused extensive damage to four separate structures early Thursday morning.
Sturgis Department of Public Safety (SDPS) crews arrived at 511 Mechanic St. just before 5 a.m. to find a detached garage fully engulfed in flames. The fire was so intense that it spread to the adjacent residence and also damaged a neighboring house and garage. Firefighters confirmed that no one was inside the properties at the time and were eventually able to bring the blaze under control.
While the fire resulted in no reported injuries, the “intense heat from the garage contents” caused significant structural damage to all buildings involved.
Officials have not yet released a damage estimate and say the cause remains under investigation.
