ALGANSEE TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB)- A driver escaped with non-life-threatening injuries after a single-vehicle crash Monday night in Algansee Township.
Branch County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the intersection of S. Ray Quincy and Lester Roads around 10:20 p.m. following reports of a Kia Sorento hitting a tree. Upon arrival, emergency crews found the vehicle resting on its side with the driver trapped inside.
According to Under Sheriff Jason Bingham, the Kia was traveling northbound when the driver swerved to avoid a deer.
The combination of the sudden maneuver and rain-slicked roads caused the vehicle to veer off the pavement.
Once extricated from the wreckage, the driver who remained alert but reported neck pain was transported to a Insight Hospital & Medical Center Coldwaterl for treatment.
