LANSING, MI (WTVB) – It’s only early May but The Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget has launched the search for the 2026 state Christmas tree, seeking a spruce or fir at least 60 feet tall to grace the Capitol grounds in Lansing.
Residents are encouraged to nominate suitable trees by August 17 that offer easy road access and are available for donation, continuing a 40-year tradition of sourcing trees from throughout the state.
Following a selection process, the chosen tree will be transported with help from the Michigan Association of Timbermen for the 42nd Annual Silver Bells in the City celebration in November.
