COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Insight Hospital and Medical Center is mourning the loss of Dr. Edelwina Dy, a dedicated pediatrician who served the community for more than 30 years.
Known for her compassionate care and steady presence, Dr. Dy provided exceptional medical services to countless children and families through decades of hospital ownership changes and leadership transitions. Her unwavering commitment to patient-centered care made her a trusted figure for generations of local residents.
A pioneering advocate for accessible healthcare, Dr. Dy played a pivotal role in establishing Michigan’s first school-based health clinic. What started as a single initiative has expanded to four school-based clinics in Branch County and additional sites across the state, greatly improving healthcare access for children and families. Colleagues say her leadership and determination helped turn prevention-focused care into a lasting community resource.
Kerry Doty Manager of Insight Pediatric & Adolescent Center and Telemedicine Health Clinics said “Dr. Dy was more than a physician—she was a pillar of compassion and consistency in our community. Many of Dr. Dy’s former patients later brought their own children to her for care, a testament to the deep trust and relationships she built. Her legacy of service, mentorship, and integrity will continue to inspire healthcare providers at Insight and throughout the region.
Dr Dy was 71-years old.
