Dr. Edelwina Dy, M.D., 71, of Coldwater passed away Monday, May 4, 2026 at her home, surrounded by family.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Edelwina was born August 7, 1954 in the Philippines to Benjamin and Dominga (Racelis) Dy. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, graduating Cum Laude, from University of Santo Tomas, and her Doctor of Medicine degree from Far Eastern University – Dr. Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation, both in the Philippines.
She married Khursheed Mustafa on March 2, 1987 in California. He preceded her in death November 6, 2020.
Dr. Dy completed her residency at Children’s Health Center in Brooklyn, New York and later worked briefly in Florida. She was a dedicated and compassionate pediatrician who devoted her life to the health and well-being of children in the Branch County community.
Dr. Dy spent 34 years with Community Health Center/ProMedica/Insight and was currently serving as Director of the School Telehealth Program. She found true joy in her work, and her passion for pediatrics was evident in every interaction, ensuring that her young patients received the best possible care.
Edelwina loved shopping, but she loved traveling the world even more. She was always planning her next trip and enjoyed sharing new places and cultures with her family and friends.
Dr. Dy’s legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched, the comfort she provided to parents, and the healthier futures she helped create for generations of children.
Edelwina is survived by her daughter, Jasmine Mustafa of Ypsilanti; two sisters; four brothers; 18 nieces and nephews whom she adored; and her precious grand dog, “Chloe.”
