BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson City Council approved the hiring of Jacob Gauthier as the city’s new Clerk-Treasurer on Monday night.
He is scheduled to start his new job next week. Gauthier previously worked for the City of Sturgis as a Customer Service Supervisor and as a Utility Billing Specialist.
He is expected to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Trine University this December. Gauthier earned an Associates of General Studies degree from Glen Oaks Community College in 2017 and graduated from Three Rivers High School in 2014.
In other business, the Council awarded a bid of over $280,000 from Excell Paving Plus of Coldwater for the Compton Street Resurfacing Project.
The City was recently awarded a grant of just under $200,000 through the Michigan Department of Transportation Category B Program to resurface Compton Street between South Ruggles and South Matteson Streets.
The Excell Paving Plus bid was about $34,000 less than the engineer’s estimate.
In addition to the base bid, the City requested alternate bids for a sidewalk extension project that would add about 850 feet of new sidewalk along Roosevelt Street.
Excell Paving Plus also submitted the low bid for this at just under $79,000.
