Special Use permit and site plan approved for mixed use facility in former Family Fair Building

The site is zoned C-1 Community Business District and City Zoning Ordinances calls for recreation activities to have a special land use permit.

Any plans for outdoor entertainment in the future would have to come back before the Planning Commission.

The Family Fare store in the Fairfield Plaza closed for good in May 2021. The revitalized building will feature a grocery market, restaurant and bar, and recreational space.

Project Developer Darrel Hoag says they plan to start construction in June and hope to have it completed by late October with the goal of making it a destination

The Coldwater City Council approved a 12-year Obsolete Property Rehabilitation Act tax exemption for the developers from Kev Kor Enterprises on April 27.

In other business, the Planning Commission approved a Special Land Use permit request submitted by Jessica Johnson to establish and operate a Group Child Care Home at 88 North Sprague Street in the Seeley Park Subdivision Addition.

She previously owned and operated “Little Vikes and Tykes” in Bronson but the family relocated to Coldwater last January.

She plans to call her new business “Memories in the Mitten Daycare”.
