COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater man who led police on a multi-state pursuit last month that reached speeds of over 100 mph on I-69 is now in the Branch County Jail.
39-year-old Mason Holbrook is charged with felony fleeing and eluding along with registration violations.
That chase began around 9:45 p.m. April 27 when Branch County deputies attempted to stop Holbrook’s black Ford Thunderbird for a license plate violation on Fiske Road near Newton Road.
Holbrook refused to pull over, leading deputies on a pursuit south on Fremont Road, west on Copeland Road, and eventually onto southbound I-69.
As the chase crossed the state line, Indiana State Police troopers deployed “stop sticks” near the I-80/90 Toll Road on-ramp. Despite hitting the tire-deflation devices and riding on rims, Holbrook continued to the Toll Road exit at the 356 mile-marker before abandoning the vehicle.
After a brief foot chase, he was taken into custody by an Indiana State Trooper. He’s also facing charges in Indiana for that chase.
