Connie was a businesswoman in the community and owned The Coldwater Recreation Bowling Alley, Zodiac Lounge ( inside the bowling alley), Cadet Motor Inn, and The Whistle Stop in Burlington.

After retiring, Connie moved to Cadillac to be near her son Rob and his family.
Connie was famous for her prime rib dinners on Friday nights at the Whistle Stop. There was always a crowd with lots of music and laughter. She later made them for the Coldwater American Legion on special Saturday nights.
Her cabbage rolls were legendary and her grandson, Matt Shook, keeps the tradition going every year at St. Patrick’s Day with a dedicated group of friends helping to make a little over 300 each year.
Connie was one of a kind. Always smiling, willing to help, and loved people. She was always up for a party.
