HASTINGS, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinal girls track team won the Interstate 8 meet Tuesday at Hastings by twenty points over runner-up Parma Western. The Cardinals finished with 132 points, while the Panthers had 112. Both teams will share the overall conference title, taking dual meet results and the conference meet into consideration. Coldwater’s boys team, meanwhile, finished third in the league meet with 86 points and took third in the final league standings.
For the Lady Cards, Miyah Moore was a triple winner, taking first in the 100m, 200m, and 400m. Samantha Bernard won the 100m hurdles, while Ella Grabowski was second; Grabowski was also runner-up in the 300m hurdles and the long jump. Gwen Eby was second in the 800m, and Marie Powers won both the the shot put and the discus.
For the Cardinal boys, Trevor Mitchell won the 400m, Travon Mitchell was second in both hurdle races, and Jackson Cilla won both throwing events. In addition, the Mitchell brothers teamed up with Mason Sabaitis and Evan Lewis to win the 4x200m relay; the same quartet came in second in the 4x400m relay.

Nine individuals and one relay team from Coldwater will compete in fourteen events at the MHSAA Division 2 Lower Peninsula Finals next Saturday, May 30th, at Hamilton High School:
