COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – SEKISUI Voltek officially opened its new $39 million precision foam expansion in Coldwater, on Tuesday, marking a major milestone for the company’s “Project Endeavor.” The 50,000-square-foot facility, located in the city’s Southwest Industrial Park, is designed to produce high-end, specialized polyolefin foams for the medical, automotive, and construction industries.
The expansion increases the company’s production capacity by approximately 20% and incorporates advanced new technologies and automation to meet growing global demand.
The project is expected to create 25 new jobs, bringing the plant’s total workforce to roughly 215 employees.
Local leaders, including Coldwater Mayor Tom Kramer and representatives from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, joined officials from Voltek’s parent company in Japan for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Beyond production, the new plant will support sustainability efforts by supplying scrap materials to Schmidt Foam for recycling into sports turf underlayment.
The development was supported by a 12-year, 50% tax abatement from the city of Coldwater, highlighting Voltek’s continued long-term investment in Coldwater and Branch County.
