OTSEGO, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater softball continues to roll, as they won both ends of a non-conference doubleheader at Otsego Thursday by scores of 5-1 and 8-6.
In the first game, Laynie VanAken and Audrina Bucklin each allowed only one hit; VanAken recorded eight strikeouts, while Bucklin had three. Mya Porter was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI triple, and Vandria Bucklin went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs.
In the second game, the Cardinals scored three runs in the seventh to break a 5-5 tie. Porter was 4-for-4 with an RBI double, Mackenzie Searing went 2-for-4 with two runs driven in, Addy Bucklin was 2-for-4, and Coley Burkhardt added a triple. Audrina Bucklin, the winning pitcher, allowed six hits and one walk.
Coldwater improved to 30-1 overall with the sweep. The Division 2 second-ranked Cardinals will travel to Walled Lake Northern on Saturday for a quad, where they will face New Boston Huron, Division 1 #7 Walled Lake Northern, and Division 2 Honorable Mention Linden.
