Lela L. Ash, 85, of Coldwater passed away Sunday, May 24, 2026 at her home.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no services held at this time. Burial will take place at a later date.
Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Lela was born September 17, 1940 to Euell Davis and Lillian Reiter in Chicago. She later met and married Walter E. Ash Jr. June 2, 1963 in Vicksburg. Walter preceded her in death August 5, 2015.
Lela worked for many years as an office manager for Dr. Manohar. She attended Kalamazoo College where she earned her degree in German.
In her free time, she loved gardening, traveling the world, and spending time with animals, especially her beloved cats. She was very proud of her historic home and was also a member of the Community Garden when it was active.
Lela is survived by her children, Sara Dameron, McKelin Ash, and McCabe Ash; and her grandchildren, Zoe and Evan.
Lela was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter E. Ash Jr.; and her son-in-law, Dean Dameron.
Memorial donations may be directed to the Animal Aid of Branch County.
