Jon Alan Rick, 83, of Union City passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at his home under hospice care.
In keeping with Jon’s wishes, he will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City.
Jon was born January 16, 1943 to Norman and Agnes (Helmus) Rick in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He graduated from Madison West High School with the Class of 1961. Jon went to Wisconsin University to further his education. He joined the U.S. Navy and served honorably at Subic Bay Naval Base in the Philippines during the Vietnam War.
November 8, 1980 he married Patricia Clarke in Pennfield, Michigan.
Jon worked as a computer programmer for the United States government, retiring in 2001. He then took his favorite job with NASA, working until 2005.
Over the years he lived in Wisconsin, Japan, Colorado, and California, before settling in Union City. He enjoyed model trains, Star Trek, the Green Bay Packers & the Wisconsin Badgers, spending time with his family, cats, and going to the local library.
Jon and Marv Carman helped raise money for the last Union Township Library project. He also had a great love for music. While in college, he played in the Rose Bowl Band and his favorite singers were Elvis and The Beatles.
Surviving Jon are his wife, Patricia Rick of Foley, AL; his children, Deidre (Matt) Dunn, Clay (Tasha) Burgoon, Paul Cole II, and Derek (Sally) Cole; his grandchildren, Sarah, Whitney, Elizabeth, Collin, Angelica, Tayla, Jillian, Parker, Kemper, Willet, Ransom, and Somers; his great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Hayden, Cooper, Arthur, Nora, Spencer, Pressley, Liam, Asher, Mickal, Matthew, and Yui; his great-great grandchild, Elijah; and his brother, Norm (Melba) Rick II.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Virginia Burgoon.
