COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Branch County Road Commission worker was critically injured on Thursday, when a semi-truck rear-ended his mowing tractor on southbound I-69 near Jonesville Road.
The tractor driver was flown from the scene to a trauma care center, while coils of wire spilled from the semi into the highway median.

The crash, which occurred just before 1:00 p.m. near the Newton Road overpass, prompted Michigan State Police to shut down the interstate in both directions from Fenn Road to Jonesville Road for several hours.
MSP says that warning signs were in place prior to the work zone, and the incident remains under active investigation.
Meanwhile a personal injury accident was reported in the northbound lanes of I-69 near mile marker 9 just after 3:00 p.m. Traffic was backed up at the time as motorists were waiting to exit the interstate onto Fenn Road.
