COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Despite having to modify some of the activities due to a storm that moved through Saturday morning, this year’s John Rohloff- Coldwater Exchange Club Duck Race raised over $30,000.
4,050 ducks hit the water this year, which was up about 500 ducks from last year.
It was a record year of 139 business and individual sponsors, plus 25 major prize sponsors.
Because of the rain, musical entertainment was canceled and raffle baskets were moved inside Hope Cafe for people to bid on.
The money raised from the duck race will be split between Royal Family Camp, the Branch County Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, and projects of the Coldwater Exchange Club.
A duck adopted by Kristen Griffiths crossed the finish line on the Sauk River first to win her $2,026 cash, donated by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Scott Fair’s ducks finished in second place, winning him a half ounce 24 karat gold bullion coin donated by Union Pallet, and Patty and Randy DeGroot’s duck finished third to win a season golf membership at Coldwater Golf Course.
