JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – Consumers Energy crews worked through the night to restore electricity to more than 50,000 customers following a wave of severe weather that brought heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and flooding to Michigan.
More than 500 utility crews successfully brought power back online ahead of an impending second wave of storms expected to move across the state tonight.
Jean Kang, an officer in charge of restoration for Consumers Energy, thanked customers for their patience, emphasizing that the safety of both crews and the public remains the company’s primary focus as they continue to monitor the weather and deploy resources.
The restoration efforts come as utility officials brace for additional rounds of inclement weather, including the potential for tornadoes across the state today.
In anticipation of the incoming storms, repair crews have been strategically staged to respond rapidly to new power disruptions. Consumers Energy urges motorists to exercise extreme caution on the roads and advises residents to stay away from downed power lines, flooding, and broken tree branches.
