COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A recall petition was submitted against Fourth Ward Coldwater City Councilman Scott Houtz on June 5, initiating a county-level review process. Coldwater resident Kyle Wallace filed the request with the Branch County Clerk’s office, referencing Houtz’s March 9 vote regarding a city ordinance.
The Branch County Election Commission will consider if that petition factually and clearly meets the criteria for a recall when they next meet on June 25.
Anyone who wishes to address the commission on the recall petition, must submit a written request to the chairperson of the board at least 24 hours prior to the start of that meeting. Those who address the board will be allotted three minutes to do so.
That meeting is scheduled to take place on June 25 at 3:30 p.m. in the Commissioners Board room on the 1st floor of the Branch County Court House.
