Harley Gibson, Jr., 69, of Burlington, passed away Friday, June 12, 2026 at Marshall Nursing & Rehab in Marshall, MI under hospice care, surrounded by his loving family.
Following cremation, a celebration of Harley’s life will be held from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation, 1276 Tate Trail, Union City, MI.
Pastor Mike Szynkowski from the Centreville Seventh-day Adventist Church will lead a short ceremony, beginning at 6:30 p.m., to conclude time of celebration. Friends are encouraged to bring a dish to share, along with memories of Harley. He will be interred privately at Burlington Cemetery.
Harley was born April 16, 1957 in Angola, Indiana to Harley and Barbara (Eisenhour) Gibson, Sr. He was raised around Angola and attended Angola Schools.
He was married twice before he met Jacklyn “Jackie” (Jeffries) Miller. He and Jackie were married April 30, 1995. They had two children together and Harley had a son from his first marriage. The couple made their home in Burlington, where Jackie was from.
Harley had lived in the Montgomery, MI area for many years before moving to Burlington.
Sadly, October 13, 2019, the family suffered a terrible house fire that injured them all and took the life of their 7-year-old son, Jack Lakota Gibson.
Harley was a mechanic most of his life and worked at several area repair shops. He attended the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Burlington and later at Centreville.
He enjoyed riding his motorcycles with Jackie, doing his animal chores, fishing, and playing games on his phone. He was a quiet, reserved person, but his sense of humor would come out at times.
In addition to his wife, Jackie, survivors include: his daughter, Shayan Gibson of Burlington; his sons, Harley “LJ” Gibson III of OH, Johnathen (Kylia Youmans) Miller of Union City, Donald (Amber) Miller of Union City, and Jesse (Jasmine) Bethel of GA; his siblings, Burl Gibson of Coldwater, Carolyn George of IN, Carmela “Sue” Hamming of Schoolcraft; and his many grandchildren.
In addition to his son, Jack, Harley was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Glen, Veronica, Tresa, Michael, and Jennifer.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation, P.O. Box 161, Union City, MI 49094 to help with final expenses.
