COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The annual Coldwater Strawberry Fest returns to Downtown Coldwater this weekend, running from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
The free, family-friendly event is set to feature a record-breaking setup of more than 200 vendors..
Julie Santure with Coldwater Parks and Recreation says the event draws thousands of visitors downtown for a variety of reasons
Centered primarily around South Monroe Street, the Tibbits Plaza parking lot, and Four Corners Park, the festival traditionally draws over 10,000 visitors to kick off the summer season.
Santure says although it has not been the best year for strawberries they will be available through multiple vendors
While crowds will be at an all-time high, festival-goers are encouraged to arrive early if they hope to snag fresh strawberries. Due to a harsh winter and excessive spring rains, southern Michigan farms have experienced a significant berry shortage this year, meaning supplies will be more limited than usual.
