COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Kellogg Community College has announced Coldwater High School graduate Mariam Mohamed has been named to the prestigious 2026–27 Gold Key Scholarship class.
As one of only 12 standout students selected for this elite honor, Mohamed received the Southern Michigan Bank & Trust Gold Key Scholarship. The highly competitive award is valued at $4,500 per year for up to two years, totaling $9,000 to cover her tuition, fees, and books.
It recognizes incoming freshmen who demonstrate exceptional academic excellence, leadership, community service, and extracurricular involvement.
Mohamed, who previously dual-enrolled at the college during her high school career, will attend as a full-time freshman this fall.
She plans to major in nursing, utilizing the financial support to advance her medical career goals. Her selection highlights her strong potential to impact both the campus and the broader regional community.
KCC’s total investment for this year’s incoming Gold Key class represents up to $54,000 in student aid, ensuring students like Mohamed can pursue higher education with a significantly reduced financial burden
