Ronald Dean Smith of Quincy, Michigan died June 20, 2026.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Activity Center Saturday, June 27, 2026 beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Dutcher Funeral Home.
Ronald graduated from Reading High School, earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Chemistry and Philosophy from Albion College, and a Masters Degree in Chemistry from Eastern University. Ronald taught chemistry at Adrian High School and Kellogg Community College.
Ronald was a ham radio operator and an expert marksman. He enjoyed backpacking in the National Parks, sailing on the Great Lakes, farming, and vacationing with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marian, daughters Celene (Christopher) Watkins and Julie Smith, and grandchildren Luke, Maria, and Elise Watkins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Pearl (Marsh) Smith, and siblings Robert Smith, Shirley Taylor, and Gerald Smith.
Ronald donated his body to Michigan State University. Memorial donations may be directed to an environmental group of your choice.
