COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The investigation into the June 4, fatal accident that claimed the life of Branch County Road Commission worker Casey Rice remains active with no new updates, that’s according to Lt. Rene Gonzalez Public Information Officer for the Michigan State Police.
While the community seeks answers regarding potential charges against the still unidentified truck driver, Gonzalez tells WTVB News investigators are still awaiting toxicology reports, autopsy results, and a comprehensive report from an Accident Reconstructionist along with any video that may be available before submitting the case to the prosecutor for any potential charges .
Gonzalez says once the investigation is complete, the findings will be forwarded to the Branch County Prosecutor’s Office for review but couldn’t give a timeline for when the investigation may be wrapped up.
In the days following the accident MSP investigators said that they believed drug use may have been a contributing factor in causing the accident but did not identify what led them to that suspicion.
