UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – Although a request for disaster aid from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) was denied earlier this week, tornado victims who are continuing to struggle with recovery nearly four months later, there is still assistance available.
Brittany Beard is Project Process Manager for the organization After The Storm. She says they are doing team disaster case management for residents in Branch, St Joseph, and Cass counties.
Beard said after they meet with tornado victims they begin the process of exploring all levels of potential assistance.
She says that sometimes the hardest part of the recovery comes in the weeks and months following the disaster.
Erica Heminger with the Branch County Community Foundation says they are both still assisting victims financially as well as continuing to take donations.
