COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Planning is already underway for the next home to be built by building trades students at the Branch Area Careers Center, after their most recent two-year home project recently sold for $300,000.
The BISD Board of Education approved the sale of the home at 15 Michael Drive at its meeting last month. The next home is set to be built on the lot to the east of the current home, with student design work nearly complete and construction expected to begin when students return to the BACC next month.
School officials say the home was intentionally designed as an affordable option in a neighborhood near schools, while also offering hands-on training for students who could enter the construction trades once they graduate.
