ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – A Deputy with the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office has resigned from his position for an unknown reason.
The Indiana State Police (ISP) said an investigation was conducted on a “public official” in Steuben County.
In a press release from the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, it was announced that effective today, Deputy Jordon Trippe will no longer be employed by the sheriff’s office. The release said that he had entered a letter of resignation.
The release goes on to note that all questions regarding an ongoing investigation when Trippe was a police officer with the Fremont Police Department (FPD) should be directed to the FPD or the ISP.
A public information officer with the ISP said that all information that can be provided is that the state police investigated a public official in Steuben County, and that the investigation has now been taken on by a “special prosecutor.”
The ISP did not tie Trippe to the aforementioned investigation, as the state police do not “identify suspects involved in any investigation until an arrest has been made.”
According to a Facebook post from the sheriff’s office, Trippe was sworn in as a Merit Patrol Deputy in August of 2019. On the sheriff’s office’s website, Trippe was listed as one of three detectives.
