Paul Ray Cunningham, 76, of Coldwater passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital.
In keeping with Paul’s wishes, he will be cremated and a graveside service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2026 at Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Road, Augusta, MI.
The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation of Union City.
Paul was born January 26, 1950 in Bridgeport, Illinois to Ralph and Frieda (VanSyoc) Cunningham. He graduated from Coldwater High School in 1969. He would go on to enlist in the Navy, he was very proud of his service.
Paul married Ruby Hankins and they had two children together. Their marriage ended with divorce.
When Paul got out of the service, he joined the City of Kalamazoo as a tree trimmer, and he did that for over 10 years. He also worked for International Veneer in Coldwater for over 10 years. He worked for the trailer park he lived at as well, taking care of general maintenance and lawncare duties.
Paul enjoyed antiquing, fishing, kayaking, motorcycles, and the music of the 60’s and 70’s, as well as having a good heart to help people in need.
Paul is survived by his son, Willie (Christina Russell) Cunningham of Muskegon; grandchildren, Kaylee (Benji) Robles of Niles, Maya (Cole) Yeager of Ft. Wayne, IN, Brayden William the Great (Megan) Cunningham of Argos, IN, and Baylei McCallen; siblings, Laird (Mary) Cunningham of Richland, Jeff Cunningham of Bronson, and Kim (Jody) Cunningham of Coldwater; and one great-grandchild on the way.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Kyle Cunningham, and his siblings, Linda Weems, Charles “Tuna” Cunningham, Gerry Cunningham, and a baby brother Cunningham.
