Robert J. “Bob” Summers, 64, of Burlington, Michigan passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital, leaving behind a family and friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.
In keeping with Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation, 1276 Tate Trail, Union City, MI.
Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 p.m., to visit, share stories, and remember Bob together.
Bob was born December 23, 1961 in Battle Creek, Michigan, to Robert B. and Joan (Collins) Summers.
After 8 years of dating, on January 15, 1999, Bob married the love of his life, Charisse ‘Chari’ Cuyjet, aboard a cruise ship bound for the Bahamas—a fitting beginning to a 27 year marriage built on love, laughter, and a lifetime of memories.
Bob retired from B & B Trucking in Kalamazoo after many years of dedicated work. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, repairing small engines, shooting pool, and bowling. He had a special love for animals, especially his cats, who always seemed to find a place in his heart.
Anyone who knew Bob knew he had a stubborn streak and a sarcastic sense of humor that was unmistakably his own. He wasn’t one to sugarcoat his opinions, but those fortunate enough to know him understood that behind his tough exterior was a loyal man who loved deeply. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his daughters and grandchildren. Whether sharing a laugh, lending a hand, or simply being together, those moments meant the world to him.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Chari Cuyjet of Burlington; his stepmother, Debbie Waite of Hastings; his daughters, Sam (Brad) Evans of Union City and Kortney Summers of Battle Creek; his cherished grandchildren, Aidan, Amiyah, Caleb, Graysyn, Mia, Elaina, and Champ; his sisters, Sandra Fox, Laura Summers, and Robin Summers-Hurt; several nieces and nephews; and his dear friend, Dewey Cord.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his close friend and longtime hunting and fishing buddy, Brad Nye.
Although Bob may have been known for his stubbornness and quick wit, those who loved him will remember something even greater—his unwavering love for his family, his loyalty to his friends, and the countless memories that will continue to bring smiles for years to come. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation, P.O. Box 161, Union City, MI 49094, to assist with final expenses.
