COLDWATER, MI (WTVB)- Coldwater’s Haitian community is tense today considering Homeland Security’s Temporary Protected Status deadline is tomorrow.
Some local Haitians are fearful there won’t be a second extension.
TPS gives migrants whose home countries are affected by natural disasters and wars the chance to live and work in the U.S.
A bill to extend protections has passed the U.S. House and is now being considered in the Senate.
If the legislation is passed, it would extend TPS through 2029. Those in the US were recently given a two week extension
