Marjorie “Marj” S. Sturtz, 73, of Quincy passed away peacefully at her home Sunday, July 26, 2026.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 30, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Lakeview Cemetery in Quincy.
Marj was born December 30, 1952 in Coldwater, Michigan to Gilbert I. and Mary A. (Hemker) Pohl. November 15, 1974 she married the love of her life, James E. Sturtz. They shared nearly 15 years together before James preceded her in death May 15, 1989.
For more than 25 years, Marj dedicated her career to Branch Intermediate School District, where she worked as a paraprofessional. She loved helping students and built many lasting friendships throughout the years.
She was also an active member of the Quincy American Legion Auxiliary Club and enjoyed giving back to her community through volunteering.
Marj embraced life with enthusiasm. She loved traveling, relaxing at the beach, playing golf, spending time outdoors, tending to her garden, reading a good book, and staying active at Great Lakes Health and Fitness.
Her faith was the foundation of her life and the source of her strength. She often found comfort in her favorite Scripture, “I can do all things through Messiah who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13), and lived with the assurance of “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to Yah; and the peace of Yah, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Messiah” (Philippians 4:6–7).
Above all, she treasured time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, who brought her endless joy and pride.
Marj is survived by her children, Jessica (Jeb) Miller, Jennifer Howard, and Tracy Sturtz; her siblings, Marilyn Powell, Lois Tell, Pat (Dennis) Babjack, Joan (Steve) Carr, Linda (Brian Cekander) Green, Theresa (Roy) Snyder, and Monica (Bob) Granger; and her beloved grandchildren, Carter Handy, Grayson Howard, Jaelyn Handy, Grey Miller, Nolan Miller, Ellasyn Howard, Selah Miller, and Avah Miller.
Marj was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James E. Sturtz; and her son-in-law, Chris Drewek.
