COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Marble-Coldwater Clean Water Partnership, in partnership with the Branch County Conservation District, is preparing to apply for a state grant that they hope will assist with water quality issues throughout the lake watershed.
The group says the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy Watershed Management Planning Grant would help them fund the development of a comprehensive, science-based plan that will identify water quality issues on the chain of lakes and provide a roadmap for protecting and restoring the lakes for future generations.
They are encouraging area residents to take a community survey through August 10.
The grant does require local community support, and before September the group must raise a minimum of $25,000 in local matching funds to qualify for the planning grant. They say the more local support they demonstrate, the stronger the application becomes.

The Marble-Coldwater Clean Water Partnership says its mission is to “keep our chain of lakes healthy and accessible for recreation, while balancing the interests of property owners, local government and the broader community, now and into the future.”
