COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A pair of wall signs for businesses along Chicago Street were approved on Wednesday night by the Coldwater Historic District Commission.
They granted a request for the installation of a 12 square foot sign above the side door of the Wrap N Go restaurant at 64 East Chicago that is facing the western parking lot.
It’s the same building that used to be the location of the Main Theatre. The building is currently being used for multiple commercial businesses.
Zoning and Planning Administrator Robert Hawley said the new sign that had already been installed did not take away from the buildings historical nature
The Commission also approved the installation of a wall mounted sign on the J.B. Branch & Company building at 34 West Chicago. The proposed work will be limited to the south façade of the building and it was felt the project would have minimal impact on the historic façade.
Meanwhile, the Commission tabled until the next meeting a request to install about 70 new windows within the existing openings of the Masonic Temple building at 45 East Chicago in order to gather more information from the applicant. According to Zoning and Planning Administrator Robert Hawley, the application is proposing vinyl replacement windows.
The staff is recommending that the existing windows be retained and repaired where feasible. If replacement is necessary, Hawley says aluminum-clad wood windows that match the existing windows should be used.
