QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Quincy’s boys soccer team overcame an hour-long weather delay at the start of the evening to win its home opener, defeating Pennfield 8-4 on Wednesday.
The two teams battled to a 3-3 draw in the first half, but the Orioles outscored the Panthers 5-1 the rest of the way.
Anderson Suever scored four goals, two in each half, while Carl Dessir had two goals and an assist. Blaik Pierce and Max Woodward had a goal apiece, and Bentley Swift notched an assist. Dane Johnson started the game in goad and recorded two saves; Pierce took over in the second half and had three saves.
Quincy improved to 1-1-2 on the season and are idle until next Wednesday’s Big 8 opener against Bronson.
CASSOPOLIS, MI – Bronson lost their season opener, a 2-1 decision at Cassopolis. The Vikings will visit Olivet Monday night.
EDWARDSBURG, MI – Due to the threat of severe weather, Coldwater’s contest at Edwardsburg was rescheduled for next Thursday, September 3rd.
