COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Michigan State Police (MSP) are reminding motorists of key safety protocols to follow if they are pulled over on the road.
State troopers emphasize that traffic stops can be high-stress situations for both drivers and law enforcement officers.
To ensure the interaction is as safe and smooth as possible, the MSP advises drivers to pull over safely to the right side of the road, turn off the engine, and switch on the vehicle’s interior light if the stop occurs at night.
MSP troopers stress that drivers and passengers should keep their hands clearly visible on the steering wheel or in their laps, and avoid making any sudden movements or reaching into the glove compartment before being asked.
Motorists are encouraged to remain calm, comply with the officer’s instructions, and inform the trooper of the location of their license and registration before reaching for them.
They say by practicing these straightforward safety steps, that drivers can significantly reduce tension and help guarantee a safe resolution for everyone involved.
For motorist passing a traffic stop or any other vehicle on the side of the road with flashing lights MSP stresses the importance to follow the states ” Move Over Law” that requires drivers to move over one lane or slow down by at least 10 mph below the posted speed limit when approaching stationary emergency, roadside, or utility vehicles.

Absolutely these stops can be stressful. As YouTube videos proliferate where police, sheriff’s and highway patrol officers are shown committing acts of theft, robbery, violence and even murder republic wide. It should be understood that We The People are the boss and there is nothing in our US Constitution or Bill Of Rights that allows for any of these criminal acts by armed agents of the state. Police should note that as We The People are made aware of our rights on a larger scale these stops will have to come to an end. Or become to be called what they are. Murder, extortion, theft and robbery. They will become increasingly dangerous for the officers as We The People take our 2nd Amendment back from treacherous governments and hold them accountable for their crimes. Soooo, safety. Yeah….
