GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WTVB) – A giant corn maze in Grand Rapids planned months before Dolly Parton’s death is taking on added meaning as an official tribute to the American icon.
Set to open next Tuesday, September 1, at Robinette’s Apple Haus & Winery, the 6.5-acre attraction was initially designed to celebrate the 31st anniversary of Parton’s Imagination Library literacy program.
Following her passing this week at the age of 80 after a brief battle with cancer, the venue announced that the seasonal layout will now serve as a deeper celebration of her monumental life, music, and philanthropy. The intricate maze design features a detailed portrait of the country music legend—complete with her signature voluminous hairstyle—alongside a guitar, musical notes, and her classic butterfly logo.
Robinette’s is one of only 20 farms across North America selected to host the authorized country-themed maze, a project Parton herself enthusiastically approved and recorded a promotional video for prior to her death.
Instead of leaving traditional floral memorials, orchard owners are encouraging fans to honor the singer’s memory through action.
In alignment with Parton’s passion for childhood literacy, a portion of every ticket sold throughout the season will directly benefit the Imagination Library of West Michigan.
