GIRARD TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A 46-year-old Branch County resident was arrested early Sunday morning after attempting to flee from a traffic stop in Girard Township.
According to a press release from the Branch County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy spotted a vehicle with an equipment violation traveling on Union City Road near Bell Road at approximately 12:21 a.m. on Sunday morning.
When the deputy activated emergency lights and sirens to initiate a stop, the driver refused to pull over, prompting a short police pursuit before the vehicle eventually came to a halt.
A subsequent investigation revealed extensive legal violations regarding both the driver Jeremy O’Neal and the vehicle.
Deputies discovered that the driver was operating the vehicle with a revoked driver’s license, the automobile had not been registered since 2023, and it completely lacked insurance.
The suspect was taken into custody without further incident and faces multiple charges, including fleeing and eluding police, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, and driving while a license is revoked.
