HILLSDALE MI, (WTVB) – The felony charges authorized against Hillsdale County Sheriff Scott Hodshire have left far more questions than answers, as official close to the investigation remain tight-lipped on details of what led to the charges.
Court records reveal the 59-year-old sheriff faces felony counts of misconduct in office and obstruction of justice stemming from an alleged February 18 incident, yet the specific actions that led to these charges are absent from public filings.
A warrant for the felony charges was authorized on August 19, 2026, by a magistrate with the 2B District Court following a petition filed by Michigan State Police Detective Sergeant Travis Pohl.
Inquiries for the Hillsdale County prosecutor and the state attorney general’s press office and the Michigan State Police so far have gone unanswered.
Hillsdale County voters first elected Hodshire, in 2020, and then re elected him in 2024
Hodshire was released on Monday, after posting a $1,000 personal recognizance bond.
