COLDWATER, MI — Access to the Branch County Courthouse will be restricted starting today, as the City of Coldwater is set to begin its Hudson Street reconstruction project.
The infrastructure work, which includes replacing the storm sewer system, will completely shut down main street access from Hudson Street for an expected four to six weeks.
To manage traffic and parking during the construction period, the Branch County Board of Commissioners formally suspended board rules to approve a temporary layout overhaul.
According to County Administrator Frank Walsh their is only one option to access courthouse parking
Officials warn that the project will significantly impact daily routines, particularly with a 50-person jury trial scheduled to begin at the circuit court today.
Under the newly implemented traffic plan, the main courthouse parking lot is strictly reserved for visitors and jurors.
Meanwhile, all courthouse employees have been instructed to park off-site across East Pearl Street in the Roosevelt lot to maximize availability for the public.
Walsh urged the public to plan for extra travel time and exercise caution when navigating the modified downtown route
